Propel NY Energy in the Town & Village of Pelham

All mileage and routing are preliminary.

Propel NY Energy is a 90-mile, six-segment transmission improvement project across parts of Long Island, Queens, Bronx and Westchester County (See top map at right).

A portion of one segment is proposed in the Town and Village of Pelham, consisting of approximately 0.2 miles of new underground transmission line.
(See bottom map at right).

Transmission lines carry electricity long distances, from where it is generated to the distribution lines that bring it to homes and businesses.

Why is Propel NY Energy Needed?

  • A robust electric transmission network is fundamental to power our daily lives. It also supports healthier communities, and jobs and economic opportunity.

  • Electricity use is increasing and placing more demands on an aging system.

  • New York’s transmission system requires upgrades and expansion to improve reliability and create the resilient  pathways needed to deliver clean energy to local communities and throughout the state.

When Will the Project Begin?

  • Pending regulatory approvals, construction is estimated to begin in 2026, with a 2030 in-service date. Construction will be done in short durations in specific areas across the full project.
